KOKUKO - The Black Fox ($600)

You want to write a story, but you have no idea where to begin. You have an idea - or even an idea of an idea - but it keeps you up at night. You have to write it, you just don’t want to waste your time writing in the wrong direction.

With the kokuko package, we nip that in the bud by discovering your story’s foundations. We find its core building blocks, so you can write forward with confidence, whether it’s your first book or your twentieth.

What does that look like in practice?

  • This is a workbook that gets to the nitty gritty details of your story. Why are you writing it? Who are you writing it for? What are you trying to say about the world through this book?

We start with Story Foundations to address our mindset about writing a book. It isn’t just about letting it fly! We build excellent foundations in order to hold up an excellent book.

Story Foundations is inspired by Jennie Nash’s Blueprint for a Book, an additional incredible resource that can be used in tandem with the kokuko program.

  • This workbook gets deep into your protagonist. Who are they? What do they want? Are they the right hero (or anti-hero, or reluctant hero) to be sending on this journey?

Your protagonist is the greatest hook for your reader. Having a strong one - whether your readers love them, or love to hate them - is the backbone of your entire story. Where Story Foundations sets the groundwork, the Protagonist Profile starts the framework.

(If needed for your story, the Protagonist Profile has an evil twin - the Antagonist Profile!)

  • Pantsers, beware!! There is an outline in your future! But this outline isn’t like the others. This is a fluid structure that combines plotting structure, narrative drive, and scene cards into one.

With the Outline, you’ll know you’re hitting the right plot points, that your scenes have impact and meaning, and that your protagonist is always at the center of your story.

This package includes:

  • One 60-minute brainstorm session to begin your kokuko work

  • My feedback on your completed kokuko work with action steps on how to make your package the best it can be before writing

  • Two 60-minute content sessions to polish up your kokuko package

  • Your completed kokuko work to guide your writing!

MYOBU - The White Fox ($1,000)

Up to 50k words, $0.05/word for additional word count

So you’ve started writing, and something just isn’t working. Maybe it’s the plot, maybe it’s the characters, maybe you’re just burnt out on the whole idea at this point. Whatever the case is, we can find the solution together.

With the myobu package, I do a miniature manuscript evaluation, looking at the broad strokes of your story: is the plot coming together? Are the stakes present? Is your protagonist strong? I come back to you with an Editorial Letter detailing my findings, as well as addressing some of the weaknesses in your manuscript and action steps on how to make them better!

What does that look like in practice?

  • I take your manuscript away from you and don’t allow you to touch it or edit it for weeks! The horror!

During that time, I read through your manuscript and add my own commentary. This comes in equal parts reacting like a reader and giving editorial advice, so you get a bit of both. Each chapter, I put together my thoughts about what’s working, what needs some work, and some ideas I may have for your Editorial Letter.

  • Your manuscript is many, many pages long, and I’m a bit of a yapper, so the Editorial Letter puts all of those comments and thoughts in one place for fluid communication and understanding.

My Editorial Letter will identify the strengths of your manuscript so far, as well as what I see as major needs to solve before you write forward. This includes actionable next steps before you run back to your draft!

This package includes:

  • My in-line feedback on your manuscript so far

  • An Editorial Letter that includes actionable next steps to continue writing (this is your myobu homework!)

  • One 60-minute editorial call to discuss the Editorial Letter and expectations for your myobu work

  • Feedback on your completed myobu work, and additional action steps if needed

  • Two 60-minute brainstorming sessions to get you back to writing confidently!

GINKO & KINKO - The Silver and Gold Foxes ($3,000)

Up to 100k words, $0.05/word for additional word count

You did the thing! But you wouldn’t be here if you thought your manuscript was good to go. Yes, it’s good, but it could be better! That’s where we start working together - like the ginko and kinko work together!

With the ginko & kinko package, you receive a full developmental edit. This includes my feedback about plotting, pacing, characters, the whole gamut. In your developmental edit, I take a bird’s eye view of your story to ensure all the parts are coming together, that everything flows without holes, and that your narrative drive is intact. I come back to you with an Editorial Letter addressing the manuscript as a whole, as well as a deep dive into the first twenty pages of your story to ensure that everything comes to a satisfying full-circle.

What does that look like in practice?

  • You are forced to take a full month away from your manuscript - GASP!

My Editorial Letter will identify the strengths of your manuscript, as well as its major needs. We will identify what needs to change or be solved before this book goes to publication or query!

This also includes a deep-dive into your first twenty pages. These are the pages that hook a reader and an agent alike! We ensure that these pages are as strong as they can be, with their own action steps for revision!

  • Once your revisions are complete, you can send your revised manuscript back to me for an included beta read!

Though the beta read feedback isn’t nearly as thorough as an Editorial Letter, I still provide my thoughts on what has improved, any weaknesses I’m still seeing, and suggestions on how to write forward.

This package includes:

  • My in-line feedback on your finished manuscript

  • An Editorial Letter that includes actionable next steps for your revisions (this is your ginko & kinko homework!)

  • One 60-minute editorial call to discuss the Editorial Letter and expectations for your ginko & kinko work

  • Feedback on your completed ginko & kinko work, and additional action steps if needed

  • Two 60-minute brainstorming sessions to get you on track for revisions!

  • One beta read after revisions are complete

SENKO - The Spirit Fox ($2,997)

$999 per month for a minimum commitment of three months

Three Months to Escape the Slump - but what does that mean?

It means you’ve tried writing on your own. You set self-imposed deadlines and then watched them blur past you. You’ve read every craft book you can get your hands on, but you still aren’t confident that what you’re writing is any good. Your story is everything to you, but trying to find the balance between your passion and the things that need your attention - work, school, kids - seems impossible on your own.

We need to find a system that works for you, so you can work on your writing! This intensive three-month is about finding your footing, then finding your flow, so you can finish your draft.

What does that look like in practice?

  • We can’t write if we don’t know what we’re writing!

For the first two weeks of our coaching, we’ll complete the kokuko package: Story Fundamentals, Protagonist Profile, and The Outline. You’ll have solid footing on what you’re writing, so that when we find your flow, you can get right after it!

  • The next two weeks is about project planning. Here, we’ll develop a Writing Roadmap - a timeline for you to finish your first draft (or your second, or third).

Then, we sort out the best way for you to complete that Roadmap. We find the strategies that suit you best to keep you on track, get your work done, and prioritize your art.

  • Then, we spend the next two months executing the plan! Together, we will pursue your strategies and begin (or return to) writing! that! book!

With weekly deadlines and meetings, I won’t let you fall off the tracks. We will find your flow, build your confidence, and gear you up until we can take the training wheels off and allow you to write by yourself!

  • A personalized Finding the Flow system

  • Bi-weekly deadlines for draft turn-ins for in-line feedback and evaluation

$1444.44 per month for a minimum commitment of nine months

You wanna write a book in nine months? Then let’s do it.

It doesn’t matter if it’s your first time writing, or if you’ve been writing your whole life. It doesn’t matter if you have the faintest idea of a book, or if you have an entire outline done. Wherever you are, in nine months we’ll have a finished first draft.

  • The next two weeks is the same as the senko package: project planning. Here, we’ll develop a Writing Roadmap - a timeline for you to finish your first draft (or your second, or third).

Then, we sort out the best way for you to complete that Roadmap. We find the strategies that suit you best to keep you on track, get your work done, and prioritize your art.

With weekly deadlines and meetings, I won’t let you fall off the tracks. We will find your flow, build your confidence, and I’ll be alongside you until you turn in a finished first draft.

  • Once you turn in that draft, it’s time for the entire ginko & kinko package!

You are forced to take a full month away from your manuscript - GASP!

During that time, I read through your manuscript and add my own commentary. This comes in equal parts reacting like a reader and giving editorial advice, so you get a bit of both.
